Today as I was operating the traffic light for the West MI Whitecaps, a father with his two young sons (I am guessing they were 3 and 5), walked by and said the above (my subject line). I think it got me thinking about how differently people perceive the police. Maybe it was him saying that, or maybe it was the car full of teen boys that drove by me making noises like they were having orgasms. Or maybe it was the combination of the two.
Other people were honking and making gestures in my direction as they passed me; I am guessing they thought I made them wait too long at the light. I don't think that people understand that when a police officer is manually operating a traffic light, they can't just press a button to make the light change from red to green immediately. There is actually a cycle that the press of the button initiates, usually ranging from 7 - 20 seconds in length. I mean, really, how could we just switch it immediately? There would be crashes every time the light changed.
In other news, I shot a 52 today on the golf course. Hopefully I can just keep taking shots off my score!
Also, I am getting excited for my jaunt to Seattle with my sister next weekend. I actually leave on Thursday, and I am sure it will be here before I know it.

a decent score
Well, I had a 53 today out on the golf course...yes for 9 holes. It was pretty good for me. I know it is nothing to write home about, but I was halfway excited.
Other than that, this week has been fine, aside from yesterday when I went to the doctor and found out that I have gained 7 pounds since the last time I was there (six months ago). TOTALLY unacceptable!!! I must start losing that ASAP. Just another sign that I am getting older and older - rapid weight gain. Or maybe the age thing is just an excuse that I am using to cover up for the fact that I am getting lazier and lazier. Regardless, I must get to work on getting a toned summer body soon since summer is fast approaching!

the start of a new season..
Well, I was pretty hopeful for my golf league this year because my last couple of times out, I managed to get a a couple pars and a birdie. Well, today, the first day of my league, I got one par, a bunch of bogies and double bogies, and worse... Yikes! I wish I could just work on my nerves, because really, that is what my biggest problem is. I psych myself out all of the time, thinking people are watching me, and expecting me to hit a good shot. Good thing I am not a pro - clearly I would buckle under pressure!! It is so weird, because regardless of how terribly I do each week at the golf course, I still love it the game of golf! I find the challenge so exciting! Can't wait 'til next week!

maybe one day i will be better
I love golfing even though I am not very good at it. I find it challenging and relaxing and entertaining all at the same time. I wish I could be better. Maybe one day I will take a lesson.
Since my golf "league" (really just a group of 8 ladies that all go out and golf together) starts this Thursday, I decided to get ready today. I got a brand new putter! I can't wait to test it out. It was only $50 (marked down from $70), so it isn't like it is anything super special, but my old putter looked like I stole it from a putt putt golf center, so it is certainly an improvement to me. I also bought a new golf bag, so I am very excited about that. Anyway, aside from purchasing new items, I decided to clean all of my clubs and balls so I will be ready to go on Thursday. Yes, my life is exciting!!

my favorite time of day
When it is later in the evening, just before the sun starts to take it's final descent, when it starts to feel like it is perfect weather to sit down on your deck and read the paper, because it is quiet and serene and the perfect temperature, that is my favorite time of day. It is so perfectly beautiful, it makes my whole body feel happy.

cinco de mustache
I had one of those days today where every single little thing seemed to go wrong. You know, the day that you put on your favorite shirt, then spill lotion all over it, so you can't wear it anymore. The day that you leave your house to go out for dinner, only to realize when you are halfway to your destination that you have managed to forget your id and your credit card because they were in a different pants pocket. One of THOSE days....
Anyway, I got to the restaurant where we were eating, and found out that they were having a celebration for cinco de mayo, where if you were wearing a mustache, you got 25% off of your appetizer. The waitress (with a mustache, goatee, and super bushy eyebrows - all fake) promptly brought us stick on mustaches, which we applied immediately....who wouldn't want 25% off???!!!
It was hilarious! The mustache instantly made the annoying moments of my day fade away. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much! A table full of four girls with mustaches on is certainly a crazy sight to see!!!
